PROTECTION WHEN
IT'S NEEDED MOST

No one likes to think about the dangers of becoming permanently disabled.

Unfortunately, it's a risk we all face.

The Guild is giving members one more option in their quest to insure against long-term disabilities.

At the urging of several members, the union has found a way to provide long-term disability insurance to its members at discounted rates.

The Guild took on this task because, for some employees, disability insurance is more important than life insurance. Participation is strictly voluntary and the full cost is borne by the member.

The local, after soliciting offers from several carriers, selected Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co. as the least expensive, most qualified bidder. The offers were reviewed by former local President Richard Schroeder, a personal finance adviser and the Guild's investment consultant.

Keep in mind, the coverage being offered by Mass Mutual is long-term coverage and, while less expensive than most other similar types of coverage, may still be viewed as expensive by some members.

The cost will vary from member to member and will depend on your salary and how much of your current salary you feel you need in the event of a disability.

In addition, members who take part in this program will be required to pay for it through a checking or savings account deduction program.

The first step in the enrollment process began last week with four informational meetings at The News. If you missed one of those meetings and want additional information, please contact Editorial members Phil Fairbanks (ext. 5579) Or Ben Chee (ext. 4473).
