Asbestos Removed
The News hired Peerless Environmental Control of Orchard Park to remove asbestos covering from a re-aerator in the boiler room, as well as asbestos covering in the two small buildings on the roof of the old section of the building.
Workers enclosed the work areas in plywood (above), and used special ventilation and air monitoring to insure any asbestos was controlled.
The News' Don Forman said the project became necessary because The News plans to use the affected areas as part of renovations related to the new presses.
