Hours of Operation: 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday for walk-in traffic and phone service

Duties: Our mission is to solve all problems presented to us. Whether the problem is from a customer or from one of the departments at The News, we will find the answer. Although most of our problems deal with advertisers, we have the knowledge of how every department at The News functions and can solve problems dealing with circulation, editorial and accounting.

We handle phone calls as well as walk-in traffic. Phone calls run the gamut from advertising problems, News contests, finding obituaries, to answering questions that do not even pertain to The Buffalo News, such as: what was the weather like this day last year?

Walk-in traffic ranges from people placing classified ads, paying invoices, purchasing newspapers, selling items offered by The News, starting mail subscriptions, home delivery starts and stops and giving general information and traffic directions.

No other department has as much in its computers as does the advertising customer service department. We have the Classified SII, Accounting CJ, Word, Excel, CC:Mail (soon to be expanded), Target, revised invoices, Reflections, Powerpoint and Access. All of this is handled by a hybrid keyboard that doesn't like to be overloaded or overworked.
