Guild Member McKenna
Receives Scholarship

Ann Marie McKenna, Guild-CWA member in Inside Circulation, was one of four winners of the Western New York Council of CWA's 18th Annual Eugene Mays Scholarship Award.

McKenna received her award, a check for $500 to use toward furthering her college education, at the Eugene Mays Scholarship and Awards Dinner Dance, Dec. 4, 1998, at the Hearthstone Manor. McKenna was one of hundreds of CWA members throughout Western New York to apply for the award. Many Guild-CWA members applied. Winners names were picked in a drawing on Nov. 11, 1998 at the CWA Local 1122 union hall on Genesee Street in Cheektowaga.

Each year the WNY Council of CWA makes this award available to participating CWA locals, their members and families.

At the Dec. 4 dinner, the WNY Council of CWA presented its 1998 Mays Memorial Award to Larry Mancino, vice president of CWA District One, CWA's largest district, for his dedication and commitment to the union movement since 1966. Robert J. McLennan, president of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 3, Buffalo/WNY, received the 1998 Mays Citizenship Award for leading community service efforts within his Local.
