Delmar donates
part of salary to BNG

At the December local meeting, the Guild accepted a check in the amount of $40 from Len Delmar that he donated in appreciation for the hard work of the Buffalo Newspaper Guild in improving benefits for himself and other Guild members. Delmar, a part-time reporter in the Niagara County Bureau, sent a note to Marian Needham's attention explaining the reason for this donation:

"Several decades ago, when I was helping to negotiate new contracts for the Buffalo Newspaper Guild, I suggested that the Guild members express their appreciation for the efforts BNG put in to obtain improved benefits. I suggested that this appreciation be shown by donating one week's salary increase to the BNG. Enclosed you will find my thanks to the BNG for the benefits I received. Because of the crazy hours I have been working, I am not sure of the exact amount, but I hope it is about right. Thanks to you and the negotiating committee."
