WANT TO BE PRESIDENT?

NOMINATIONS DUE

By JOHN F. BONFATTI

Nominations will be accepted at the January monthly meeting for president of the Buffalo Newspaper Guild-CWA.

Bob DiCesare, who is resigning the position due a change in his duties in the sports department, is expected to leave the job by the end of February.

Former president Phil Fairbanks was identified in last month’s Frontier Reporter as the main candidate for the job, but DiCesare wanted to make sure there aren’t others with an interest, hence the call for nominations.
"Phil is the only member who has expressed an interest in the office, but our bylaws mandate a process and it is important that we follow that process," DiCesare said.
"We will open the floor for nominations at the Local meeting," he said. "Multiple nominations would, naturally, dictate that we conduct an election."

If there are no other nominations, Secretary Donna Ryan would be instructed to cast a single vote for Fairbanks.
