CLUB HONORS FORMER CAMP FIRE MEMBER
The Town Line Stars, an Alden group of Camp Fire Boys and Girls, honored Mrs. Iva Miller Smith at a ceremony held on May 20, 1996 at Townline Elementary School. Mrs. Smith an Alden resident, joined Camp Fire when she was twelve years old. She was one of twelve girls in a group headed by Mrs. Frank Barnett.
Mrs. Smith graduated from Alden school in 1916 and furthered her education at Cornell University. She was a Home Economics teacher in the City of Buffalo for many years. Mrs. Smith is a member of the Presbyterian church in Alden and sang in the church choir for a number of years. She was a member of a literary club and the Friendly Garden Club.
Mrs. Iva Smith is a remarkable woman who shared her memories of Camp Fire with the group of children. She showed them a Camp Fire ring that she had earned as a young Camp Fire girl. This was a ring that she kept throughout her years because it symbolized the memories of Camp Fire that she cherishes.
Camp Fire leaders, Cathy Ruisi and Michelle Wallace, wish to thank Mrs.Iva Smith for taking the opportunity to share her Camp Fire memories with the Town Line Stars group.
Mrs. Tom Lyons, Townline Elementary School principal and Mrs. Paul Roll,Townline Elementary School's head of maintenance both received a certificate of recognition for their part in a Camp Fire fundraiser held at the school. The members of the Alden Camp Fire Boys and Girls Town Line Stars are: Erica Sullivan, Stefanie Schwagler, Alyssa Swartz, Julia Wallace, Valerie Roll, Melissa Cassidy, Keith Baran, Christopher Ruisi and Becky Eleczko.
