Members Will Consider By-Laws
Revision at August Meeting

In October 1998, the Local adopted by-law changes that included a gradual increase in length of elected officers’ terms from one year to three years by 2002. Many Guild locals around the country understood that this would be a necessary change in order to keep our locals in compliance with the CWA Constitution. Most CWA locals have three–year terms for their elected officers.

However, Guild officials have since learned this was not a necessary stipulation. Keeping, or reverting, to one-year terms is not a violation of the CWA Constitution.

Therefore, the Local will consider revising the by-laws to return to one-year terms for our elected officers. Discussion and a vote are expected on the issue at the August Local meeting.
