Local To Address Dues
Question at April Meeting

A motion to consider the deduction of dues on excess Newsflex dollars was tabled at the March local meeting  pending investigation into the matter of dues deduction by the local Guild's By-laws & Finance Committees.
Questions on issue include the method of deduction employed by The News' new payroll system vs the old system.

As reported in the March issue of the Frontier Reporter The News' new payroll system now captures excess Newsflex dollars as part of gross wages and calculates that amount for purposes of dues deduction.
The Guild's by-laws state "for regular members, dues shall be 1.5625 percent of weekly gross wages…" (TNG/CWA Local 31026 By-laws 10/98 Article 10, Section 1, Paragraph A).

The question for the local membership to decide on  is whether or not excess Newsflex dollars should be included as gross wages for purposes of dues deduction.

A report and vote on this issue is expected at the April meeting.
