TREE DECORATING

Two Alden Camp Fire clubs, the "Town Line Stars" with leaders Michelle
Wallace and Cathy Ruisi and the "Music Makers" with leaders Debbie and Wally Jurek had fun taking part in the Alden Village Christmas tree decorating contest. The Alden Chamber of Commerce, who sponsored this event, also provided the trees. The Camp Fire Christmas tree was one of a number of trees decorated by various community organizations.

On Sunday, December 1, 1996 the trees were luminated in a tree
lighting ceremony and remained on display in the Alden Village Park throughout the Christmas season.

We plan to keep this annual event a tradition with our Alden clubs and
we look forward to next years tree decorating contest and lighting ceremony.

LANCASTER OPERA HOUSE

On December 27, 1996 Alden club, "Town Line Stars", visited the
Lancaster Opera House to see the classic tale Hansel & Gretel. It was a wonderful presentation by the Jim Menke Marionette Theatre with beautifully handcrafted marionettes. This adaptation eliminated some of the more frightening parts of the story and was more favorable for younger viewers.

This special and entertaining event also tied in with the Starflight-Trail to Creative Living, one of the trails in which the club had been working.

The Lancaster Opera House has a variety of productions throughout the year: jazz, theater, opera and dance. Some of the productions have Saturday matinees. Anyone interested in more information can call 683-1776. There is a 10% discount for groups of 30 or more people.
